Children’s Data Network (CDN) at the University of Southern California is taking a proactive approach to record matching. CDN is working with a variety of agencies as a data linkage center, offering the linked data for research, analysis and metrics gathering. It is a separate entity from agencies such as child welfare services or the department of education and does not have a specific agenda. Its focus is data collection and linkage to publicly created and stored children’s data, for purposes such as justifying the expense of a new policy initiative.
